About Gateway Church

• In 1998 we began a youth group, children's church and prayer meeting on the golf course estate at Mt. Edgecombe. A core group of people developed and it became evident that a church plant was needed to fill a void in the area.

• After much prayer and encouragement from many Christians and church leaders (our special thanks to Rory Dyer of Glenridge Church) we decided to take a huge step of faith and officially plant Gateway Church.

• During the time spent praying for the church, a vision of a huge fire that could not be contained and that spread from Mt Edgecombe to the ends of the earth was seen and confirmed by different people a number of times.

• On the 21st of November 1999 the first church service was held at the country club in the Weaver's nest room. The church enjoyed the excellent venue and we are grateful for the assistance given to us by the club and its employees in our first six months.

• Since then, Gateway Church has steadily grown in numbers as God has brought together a wonderful group of ordinary and very real people who try to reflect his love in their everyday lives.

• Gateway is a fully autonomous multi-cultural church in relationship with the apostolic/prophetic team of New Covenant Ministries International. (click here for more information)..

• Gateway Church has already has the privilege to be able contribute to a church plant at Umhlodti
